Bloggingpilots.com was Defaced/Hacked
Earlier this week i was surprised and shocked to find that this site was defaced/hacked bloggingpilots is just personal website aggregating pilot blog post it meant no harm to anyone
the website was defaced by some group called “team v4″ and they left this message they claimed the intention was not to harm the site but to bring to fact the security level i searched on google and found same group had defaced/hacked many website
they left message “rely on us ” does it mean you need to hire hackers and crackers to secure the website ?
i am not computer expert or engineers don’t know much about server security, i just change my password on regular interval , keep all the scripts/software which are installed upto date with latest versions
what next ?
1. Blogging pilots website is hosted at http://asmallorange.com/ i have never had any problem with them, when website was defaced i contacted their customer support and the website was recovered restored from earlier backup
2. They are looking into the matter how the incident happens and as and when i get more info ill keep everyone updated
3. Thank you everyone for their support and concern and all those who emailed me
4. special thanks to Blake of http://fly.blakecrosby.com/ who to even offered to host website on his server
was wondering if you would would want to move the hosting of the website to
my server. The cost to you would be $0. Think of it as a fellow pilot helping
another one out. I would also take a look at your code to ensure that it
is not exploitable again so that nobody can deface it.
5. waiting to hear from asmallorange.com on how they can help me make blogingpilots.com website more secure so that such incident doesn’t not happen again
the aggregator on homepage is powered by Gregarius there has been no new release or update on software code since jun 2006 i am wondering if it has any loopholes in code
6. i myself am pilot fly for schedule airline so As and when i get spare time would be moving the blog post Aggregator to new platform powered by pligg its much better aggregator and much more addon its similar to digg where in you vote for your favorite post and they get promoted to front page
